Program Associate, No Kid Hungry Florida

The Program Associate for the No Kid Hungry Florida (NKH FL) campaign will be responsible for supporting tactical execution of all aspects of the campaign, working under the direction of the Director, and collaborating with internal and external partners. 

The role is based in the state of Florida and will require to be located in Florida.   This position offers a range of $55,000 to $58,000. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support strategies to increase participation in the federal child nutrition programs in Florida, including the School Breakfast Program, Summer Meals Program, and the At-Risk Afterschool Meals Program. 
  • Assist with outreach to all relevant stakeholders including school principals, food and nutrition directors, education leaders, political officials, state agencies, and non-profit partners.
  • Document all communication, as applicable.
  • Serve as liaison between No Kid Hungry Florida and other internal teams (Donor Engagement, Communications, Advocacy, Center for Best Practices, etc.)  
  • Support the team’s work with the NKH’s Measurement, Planning and Analysis team, utilize state agency and locally available data to assess gaps in services, identify expansion opportunities, and provide direct support at the site, sponsor, community, and/or regional level. Assist with data analysis and research support to develop and achieve advocacy and public policy goals of NKH FL.
  • Collect and compile data from participating schools, summer sponsor or afterschool sites to track progress and provide impact stories on the program’s success.
  • Research prospective partners and champions in key areas, prepare landscape analysis and focus lists and conduct initial outreach and follow up communications as directed.
  • Identify and cultivate supporters or champions involved in targeted communities and schools to increase participation in school breakfast, afterschool meals, and summer meals.
  • Assist in the development of internal and external communication resources and outreach materials to raise awareness about federal nutrition programs and other program priorities. Develop localized information and outreach materials for focus communities and audiences.
  • Provide regular programmatic updates for internal and external communications.
  • Assist with training and technical assistance provided by NKH FL related to implementation of school breakfast, afterschool meals, and summer meals. Topics may include a variety of topics and presented to a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of convenings and other events as needed that support collaboration and program enhancement among stakeholders.
  • Maintain expertise on all current regulations and policies for federal nutrition programs in Florida.
  • Represent No Kid Hungry at local and state events, such as school and community resource fairs.
  • Maintain No Kid Hungry Florida’s presence on social media platforms. In coordination with the Director, develop and implement a social media communications plan to align with strategic campaign goals.
  • Create content and distribute the No Kid Hungry Florida e-newsletter to identified stakeholders. Identify strategies to broaden distribution list and recommend additional enhancements to state communication strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of work experience in a professional environment.
  • Knowledge of federal nutrition programs and/or the Florida public school system preferred.
  • Experience working with grants preferred.
  • Understanding of political landscape and public policy preferred. 
  • Ability to analyze resource gaps in schools and communities and work cross-functionally to fill those gaps.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across departments and teams to facilitate communication and drive action steps.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Skilled in researching, collecting, organizing, and managing data. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, and organize time and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and intuitive interpersonal skills.
  • Emotional intelligence and strong orientation towards internal and external customer service.
  • Thorough command of MS Office suite. 
  • Highly effective within a fluid, innovative environment.

  • A valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for travel (30%) as needed.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy 

Purpose 

Share Our Strength is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our staff. In order to maintain this safe workplace, we are adopting this policy to safeguard the health of our employees and their families; our partners and visitors; and the community at large. This policy will comply with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities, as applicable. 

Scope 

Except as set forth below in the section titled “Exemptions,” all Employees (which, only for purposes of this policy, include full and part-time regular staff, AmeriCorps, temporary employees, and interns) must be “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. An individual is considered “fully vaccinated” two weeks after receipt of the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna) or two weeks after receipt of a one-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson). Share Our Strength may also require that employees receive any booster shots ultimately recommended by health authorities. 

Procedures 

Employees will be notified by HR as to the timeframe(s) for having the vaccine(s) administered. Only vaccines that have received an Emergency Use Authorization or have been fully approved by the FDA or World Health Organization shall qualify. 

COVID-19 vaccinations are generally available free of charge, regardless of whether an individual has health insurance or not. Share Our Strength can provide informational resources where Employees without insurance may receive the vaccine at no charge. 

All Employees will be paid for time taken to receive vaccinations. Employees are to work with their managers to schedule appropriate time to comply with this policy. 

Before the stated deadlines to be vaccinated, Employees must provide proof of vaccination or have been approved for an exemption pursuant to the section below. For virtually all Employees, documentation will consist of the Employee's vaccination card. If other documentation is used, it should only include proof of vaccination and not other medical or genetic information (e.g., family medical history). 

If an Employee is unable to provide proof of vaccination or a reasonable accommodation cannot be provided, the Employee may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. 

Exemptions 

Employees in need of an exemption from this policy due to a medical reason or because of a sincerely held religious belief, or as otherwise required by law, must submit a completed Request for Accommodation form to HR. 

Employees who plan to request an exemption as a reasonable accommodation should submit the Request for Accommodation form at least ten days before the stated deadline to be vaccinated in order to avoid becoming non-complaint with this policy. Share Our Strength will assess whether such Employees are eligible for a reasonable accommodation in accordance with the Organization’s policy as well as federal, state, and local law. Share Our Strength will also keep any medical information obtained in connection with a request for a reasonable accommodation confidential in accordance with, and to the extent required by, applicable law, regulations and guidance. 

Additional Information 

This policy is an essential component of Share Our Strength’s overall strategy and commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic. This policy is designed for use together with, and not as a substitute for, other measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace.
