Manager, No Kid Hungry New York

The Program Manager is responsible for the coordination and effective execution of the No Kid Hungry New York (NKH NY) campaign. This includes developing strategies for aligning in-state staff and internal departments at Share Our Strength headquarters, managing reporting and tracking procedures, and managing relationships with key external partners across New York. Under the direction of the Director, the Program Manager will lead efforts to ensure stakeholders such as elected officials, school districts, donors, and other partners are regularly updated and engaged in our work. The Program Manager will also track maintain data and grant impact reporting, develop sustainable tracking processes for grants, and oversee partnership plans to ensure terms are being met.

This position will require applicants to be located near the New York State Area. This position will offer a range of $65,000- $75,000.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage outreach and engagement with schools, school districts and community organizations around implementation of school nutrition programs, including providing technical expertise, and collaborate on resources and materials (toolkits, focus group materials, fact sheets, flyers, webinars and social media assets) for stakeholders to support successful program implementation and outreach to communities.
  • Represent No Kid Hungry New York’s work to other food security stakeholders throughout the region through research, relationship-building, promotion, and participation/membership in existing committees, work groups and regional food policy councils.
  • Manage events which might include annual contests supporting school nutrition staff, summer meals kick-offs, advocacy engagements and site visits to see programming, including coordinating with internal departments in the organization, creating materials, and managing timelines and budgets for activities.
  • Work with partner organizations and grantees to develop opportunities for individuals with lived experience to share stories and program impact with supporters, elected officials, and media in New York.
  • Support and identify opportunities for new strategic partnerships with education associations, unions, and other key stakeholder organizations, and represent No Kid Hungry New York at coalition meetings in New York State City and New York State.
  • Develop a strategy for grant-making to school districts in New York State. Maintain a strong knowledge of metrics, strategies, best practices and program impact stories related to No Kid Hungry NY and grantees and develop strategies and plans for supporting advocacy and fundraising work both statewide and nationally.
  • Identify needed resources and materials for schools, community organizations, and other partners and work directly with Center for Best Practices and Communications colleagues on the development of public-facing materials and develop plans for dissemination of resources to target audiences.
  • Manage No Kid Hungry NY social media channels, including developing strategy to build social media presence and engagement across the state.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support and coordinate invoicing for No Kid Hungry contractors and external vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal home office work environment with up to 25% regional travel. The position will require regular meetings in New York City.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of work experience in a professional environment; experience with school nutrition or outreach programs is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, and organize time and priorities.
  • Ability to organize and manage data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations.
  • Emotional intelligence and strong orientation towards customer service
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated passion for our work.
  • Strong work ethic.
