Reporting to the Executive Vice President, The Senior Vice President of Share Our Strength’s Program Partnerships, Campaigns, and Advocacy work is responsible for developing and implementing results-driven strategies that leverage partnerships, programmatic expertise, government relations, advocacy, and communications to maximize access and participation in federal nutrition programs and policies that increase economic mobility in coordinated efforts to build a movement to end childhood hunger.
The Senior Vice President of Program Partnerships, Campaigns, and Advocacy is a critical program leader establishing priorities and adapting strategies focused on impact urgency, and equity, as well as a key leader of the organization serving on the executive team to provide both programmatic expertise and strategic counsel.
The Senior Vice President works in partnership with a highly collaborative program leadership team that includes the Senior Vice President of Program Strategy and Economic Mobility, the Senior Vice President of Program Research, Innovation, and Impact, and the Executive Vice President to develop and refine program strategies, and to effectively deploy resources and staff capacities to best support priority impact areas. The Senior Vice President will also partner with leaders of the Communications and Resource Development and Growth teams to lead our movement building work, ensure excellent communications with a diverse range of stakeholders, and ensure we are raising the funds we need to achieve our mission.
The Senior Vice President will oversee the No Kid Hungry campaign on the ground and will be responsible for the implementation of local campaigns and national partnerships to maximize access and participation in federal nutrition programs. The Senior Vice President will be able to move seamlessly between strategy and execution as well as being a ‘connector’ and thrive on finding synergies and building coalitions among a diverse set of nonprofits, corporate, and government contacts.
The Senior Vice President leads Government Relations and Advocacy for the entire organization. In this role the SVP manages influential relationships at the federal, state, and local levels, often acting as spokesperson for the organization and our programmatic strategy.
The Senior Vice President will oversee all of the organization’s advocacy efforts on state and federal legislative priorities. This work will include identifying and executing advocacy opportunities; representing the organization in coalitions and on meetings on Capitol Hill and with state legislatures; managing the budget, developing and executing advocacy plans for state legislative priorities; managing relationships and contracts with major national organizations representing state elected officials.
Ending childhood hunger requires building a movement of diverse stakeholders committed to advancing food security and economic mobility. The Senior Vice President will play a critical role in leading the organization’s efforts to build the political will and to partner with our communications colleagues to create urgency around issues of food and income disparities in the national conversation.
In addition to being asked to serve as a spokesperson for Share Our Strength, the SVP of Program Partnerships, Campaigns, and Advocacy is often asked to speak with various stakeholders to help raise the critical resources required to achieve impact. The SVP will work with members of Share Our Strength’s board and Leadership Council and coordinate with fundraising colleagues for other speaking or donor development opportunities.
The Senior Vice President will have 3-4 direct reports but ultimately responsible for the management and leadership of a large team.
This position is based in Washington, DC and will require the candidate to be local to the Washington, DC area. This role is a hybrid position but requires a consistent presence in Headquarters (2 days per week).
