Associate, Health Systems

Share Our Strength’s Health Systems work pursues opportunities to leverage health care systems and partners to increase access to federal nutrition programs and food access for children and families. Our main strategies to fulfill this aim include integrating nutrition assistance (SNAP and WIC) and food access into Medicaid preventative services and investments in social determinants of health. Reporting to the Director, Medicaid and Benefits Integration, the Associate serves as a key resource in day-to-day management of Health Strategies partners and stakeholders, focused primarily on supporting work with the Medicaid Food Security Network, School-Based Health Centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers and Affordable Housing partners. In addition to supporting logistical needs across Health Systems initiatives, the Associate will track and communicate Health Systems activities and impact data, maintain data and grant impact reporting, and support the collection and dissemination of results from our work.

This position is preferably based in Washington, D.C. (Hybrid- 2-days per week); but could be fully remote for the right candidate living outside of the DC area 30 miles or more. The position offers a range of $60k-$64k. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a key resource in day-to-day management of Health partners and stakeholders, particularly in support of the Medicaid Food Security Network and community-level partnerships and grantee cohorts, such as School-Based Health Centers, and Affordable Housing. Related activities include supporting partnership project and/or grantee learning cohort implementation, programmatic reporting, communications and generating presentation content and meeting agendas, planning and facilitating conference calls, webinars and workshops for partners.
  • Develop external communications concerning Health programmatic activities, including but not limited to newsletters, blogs, case studies, webinars, and website content.
  • Support the Health Team with partnership and contract agreements, including drafting and routing contract and preparing and submitting invoices.
  • Support team planning and education events and support the Medicaid Food Security Network national Summit, the internal Benefits Integration Working Group though communications and notetaking. May include coordinating travel and catering and financial coding.
  • Coordinate internal and external data tracking, reporting, and meeting requests.
  • Contribute to the overall Health Systems strategic priorities, goals, partnerships, evaluation and reporting.
  • Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensuring those values are embedded in the organization and throughout our work.
  • Travel less than 10%

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred, but not required, or equivalent work experience.
  • Project management and/or relationship management experience.
  • MS Office proficiency (any additional programs/applications/software).
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to high-level audiences.
  • Interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
