Associate, No Kid Hungry Center for Best Practices

The Associate, No Kid Hungry Center for Best Practices will be responsible for providing communication, administrative, strategic, and technical support to the Center for Best Practices (CBP) team. 

This position is preferably based in Washington, D.C. but could be fully remote for the right candidate. This position offers a range of $55,000- $58,000. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administration and Event Management

  • Tracking and supporting the administrative and budgetary needs of the Center, including submitting check requests, helping to schedule meetings and manage calendars  
  • Scheduling and planning monthly CBP team meetings, lining up speakers and topics
  • Assisting the Center staff with the coordination and logistics of conferences (virtual and in-person), trainings, meetings, and conference calls, including securing meeting sites, negotiating contracts, coordinating participant travel and lodging, preparing agendas and other products, taking minutes/recording sessions at the meetings and managing follow-up action items
  • Supporting logistics for Center’s webinars, overseeing the process from scheduling webinars through sending follow-up emails to registrants and tracking overall participation and engagement

Communication

  • Managing email communication from the Center by maintaining a communications, webinar and training calendar, leading development and dissemination of monthly e-newsletters and additional communication to the Center’s network 
  • Checking and responding to emails to the Center’s general inbox
  • Supporting the creation of the Center for Best Practices presentations and resources for various audiences, including internal staff, state anti-hunger partners, state agency staff, school nutrition staff, elected officials, and corporate partners, amongst others
  • Ensuring cross-team communication and collaboration to ensure staff are aware of the Center’s needs, priorities, resources, events and vice versa

Technical Support

  • In collaboration with the CBP manager, assume responsibility for maintaining and updating Center for Best Practices website, including tracking website metrics, and recommending strategic upgrades

Strategic Support

  • Conducting basic research in the area of childhood hunger and child nutrition programs to support Center leadership and staff
  • Ensuring the successful coordination of internal strategy and team meetings, including developing agendas, coordinating speakers, etc.
  • Coordinating with HR to ensure that when needed, the Center has interns and other supports to help team members carry out their jobs and tasks
  • Presenting on behalf of the Center at internal team meetings and new hire onboarding trainings
  • Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensuring this value is embedded in the organization and throughout our work.
  • As needed, serve on internal and/or external workgroups
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required, or equivalent professional and work experience.
  • Three or more years of work experience in a professional environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, and organize time and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and intuitive interpersonal skills.
  • Command of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience with website management, posting, editing and tracking website analytics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MailChimp (or similar e-mail marketing system) and Zoom is a plus. 
  • Experience in developing and executing project budgets using Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well as a member of a team.
  • Impeccable integrity and discretion.
  • Strong work ethic; and,
  • Interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy 

Purpose 

Share Our Strength is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our staff. In order to maintain this safe workplace, we are adopting this policy to safeguard the health of our employees and their families; our partners and visitors; and the community at large. This policy will comply with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities, as applicable. 

Scope 

Except as set forth below in the section titled “Exemptions,” all Employees (which, only for purposes of this policy, include full and part-time regular staff, AmeriCorps, temporary employees, and interns) must be “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. An individual is considered “fully vaccinated” two weeks after receipt of the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna) or two weeks after receipt of a one-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson). Share Our Strength may also require that employees receive any booster shots ultimately recommended by health authorities. 

Procedures 

Employees will be notified by HR as to the timeframe(s) for having the vaccine(s) administered. Only vaccines that have received an Emergency Use Authorization or have been fully approved by the FDA or World Health Organization shall qualify. 

COVID-19 vaccinations are generally available free of charge, regardless of whether an individual has health insurance or not. Share Our Strength can provide informational resources where Employees without insurance may receive the vaccine at no charge. 

All Employees will be paid for time taken to receive vaccinations. Employees are to work with their managers to schedule appropriate time to comply with this policy. 

Before the stated deadlines to be vaccinated, Employees must provide proof of vaccination or have been approved for an exemption pursuant to the section below. For virtually all Employees, documentation will consist of the Employee's vaccination card. If other documentation is used, it should only include proof of vaccination and not other medical or genetic information (e.g., family medical history). 

If an Employee is unable to provide proof of vaccination or a reasonable accommodation cannot be provided, the Employee may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. 

Exemptions 

Employees in need of an exemption from this policy due to a medical reason or because of a sincerely held religious belief, or as otherwise required by law, must submit a completed Request for Accommodation form to HR. 

Employees who plan to request an exemption as a reasonable accommodation should submit the Request for Accommodation form at least ten days before the stated deadline to be vaccinated in order to avoid becoming non-complaint with this policy. Share Our Strength will assess whether such Employees are eligible for a reasonable accommodation in accordance with the Organization’s policy as well as federal, state, and local law. Share Our Strength will also keep any medical information obtained in connection with a request for a reasonable accommodation confidential in accordance with, and to the extent required by, applicable law, regulations and guidance. 

Additional Information 

This policy is an essential component of Share Our Strength’s overall strategy and commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic. This policy is designed for use together with, and not as a substitute for, other measures to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace.
