Director, Enterprise and Data Management

Share Our Strength, long known as an innovative leader in the fight against childhood hunger in the US, has need of a Director of Enterprise Data Management to provide holistic oversight over the enterprise’s AWS-based data lake and its various instances of Salesforce.  This leader can pair deep experience with managing and deploying data management tools, whether that be use Salesforce- or AWS-based platforms, with proven abilities in all phases of project management to include requirements generation, implementation, stakeholder engagement, contractor management, and roll out planning.  

This position is preferably based in Washington, DC, but could be fully remote for the right candidate.This position offers a range of $124,000-$150,000. 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Enterprise Data Management team, currently made up of our AWS Data Engineer and our Salesforce Solutions Architect, as well as a number of different contractor teams.
  • Serve as the enterprise-wide product owner for our AWS data lake, which ingests and transforms data from source systems across the enterprise and facilitates reporting.
  • Serve as the enterprise-wide product owner for Salesforce, providing technical expertise and strategic oversight to our programmatic and fundraising business owners.
  • Oversee all Cloud Engineering efforts with the goal of enabling data sharing between systems via the data lake.
  • Oversee all Data Engineering efforts with the goal of aiding other teams in the design, construction, and automation of their own complex data analytics and visualizations.
  • Manage the Enterprise Data Management team’s budget, balancing the capacity to do work internally and outsource projects to consultants.
  • Provide a strategic vision for how enterprise-level data management tools and processes can further support Share Our Strength’s fundraising and programmatic work.

LEADERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong project and portfolio management skills, with the ability to manage competing demands using only limited resources.  
  • Strong contract management skills, with the ability to gather requirements from stakeholders, draft RFPs, evaluation proposals, and manage external consultants to time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Strong mentorship skills, necessary to help develop our in-house team as they work to tackle evermore challenging problems.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit as well as passion for solving difficult challenges through innovation and creativity, with a strong focus on the timely delivery of results.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive experience with either Salesforce or AWS or both, using one or both of the platforms to collect, manage, transform, aggregate, and share data.
  • Extensive experience leading both in-house and out-sourced teams, managing to cost, schedule, and performance
  • Experience working with 3rd party APIs to extract and ingest data.
  • Experience with data cleansing, curation, parsing, integration, semantic mapping, and editing.
  • Experience producing and consuming event driven data.
  • Experience with drafting technical documentation.

SUPERVISION

  • This position reports directly to the CIO.  This position will supervise two Senior Managers.

COVID-19 Vaccination Policy 

Purpose 

Share Our Strength is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our staff. In order to maintain this safe workplace, we are adopting this policy to safeguard the health of our employees and their families; our partners and visitors; and the community at large. This policy will comply with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities, as applicable. 

Scope 

Except as set forth below in the section titled “Exemptions,” all Employees (which, only for purposes of this policy, include full and part-time regular staff, AmeriCorps, temporary employees, and interns) must be “fully vaccinated” against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. An individual is considered “fully vaccinated” two weeks after receipt of the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (e.g., Pfizer, Moderna) or two weeks after receipt of a one-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson). Share Our Strength may also require that employees receive any booster shots ultimately recommended by health authorities. 

Procedures 

Employees will be notified by HR as to the timeframe(s) for having the vaccine(s) administered. Only vaccines that have received an Emergency Use Authorization or have been fully approved by the FDA or World Health Organization shall qualify. 

COVID-19 vaccinations are generally available free of charge, regardless of whether an individual has health insurance or not. Share Our Strength can provide informational resources where Employees without insurance may receive the vaccine at no charge. 

All Employees will be paid for time taken to receive vaccinations. Employees are to work with their managers to schedule appropriate time to comply with this policy. 

Before the stated deadlines to be vaccinated, Employees must provide proof of vaccination or have been approved for an exemption pursuant to the section below. For virtually all Employees, documentation will consist of the Employee's vaccination card. If other documentation is used, it should only include proof of vaccination and not other medical or genetic information (e.g., family medical history). 

If an Employee is unable to provide proof of vaccination or a reasonable accommodation cannot be provided, the Employee may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. 

Exemptions 

Employees in need of an exemption from this policy due to a medical reason or because of a sincerely held religious belief, or as otherwise required by law, must submit a completed Request for Accommodation form to HR. 

Employees who plan to request an exemption as a reasonable accommodation should submit the Request for Accommodation form at least ten days before the stated deadline to be vaccinated in order to avoid becoming non-complaint with this policy. Share Our Strength will assess whether such Employees are eligible for a reasonable accommodation in accordance with the Organization’s policy as well as federal, state, and local law. Share Our Strength will also keep any medical information obtained in connection with a request for a reasonable accommodation confidential in accordance with, and to the extent required by, applicable law, regulations and guidance.

This policy is an essential component of Share Our Strength’s overall strategy and commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic.
