Manager, State Campaigns

The State Campaigns Manager will be responsible for supporting the implementation of a portfolio of our No Kid Hungry campaigns in cities and states across the country. This includes serving as the primary liaison between Share Our Strength and No Kid Hungry partner organizations and other stakeholders, tracking No Kid Hungry campaign budgets, managing deliverables, and maintaining and reporting data on need, progress, and key activities.

This position is preferably based in Washington, D.C., (Hybrid- 2days per week); but could be fully remote for the right candidate living outside of the D.C. area 30 miles or more. The position offers a salary range of $65k-70k. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with partner organizations to assess their needs, and identify and coordinate strategies, tools and other resources to assist them in successfully executing their plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on State Campaigns, Grants, Center for Best Practices, National Partnerships, Advocacy, Measurement, Planning and Analysis, and Communications teams to develop integrated strategies to support No Kid Hungry campaign plans and facilitate the development of training, technical assistance and solutions to assist No Kid Hungry campaigns.
  • Provide technical and tactical assistance and support to No Kid Hungry campaigns and other partners through scheduled and ad hoc communications and meetings.
  • Provide recommendations and actively participate in discussions about No Kid Hungry campaign strategies, tactics and processes.
  • Manage No Kid Hungry campaign budgets, working with supervisor, Development, and Finance to track expenses, matching funds, and make recommendations on funding distribution and reallocations as needed.
  • Facilitate communications with state agencies, schools, community-based organizations, and policymakers to increase awareness about No Kid Hungry campaigns and strategies.
  • Represent Share Our Strength at internal and external conferences and meetings.
  • Engage educators, state agencies, food and nutrition staff, and policymakers to increase awareness about the No Kid Hungry campaign and to advance key strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 25%

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of work experience, with a minimum of two years of demonstrated success in education, grassroots organizing, advocacy, community development, program management, social justice or related field.
  • Knowledge of child nutrition programs preferred.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while coordinating workflow in a deadline-driven and service-focused environment.
  • Must be proactive and a self-starter with excellent problem-solving and implementation skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills: ability to maintain strong professional relationships with a range of groups in person and by writing and phone, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Demonstrated interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
