Sr. Director, Donor Strategy & Stewardship

Department: Resource Dev & Growth
Location: Washington, DC

Since 1984, Share Our Strength® has led the fight against hunger and poverty by inspiring and organizing individuals and businesses to share their strengths. Today, through the No Kid Hungry campaign, Share Our Strength is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need. No child should go hungry in America – we’re on our way to making that a reality and we want you to join us. We’re bold, creative, always open to new ideas, and 100% dedicated to our mission. If that sounds like you, we’d like you to consider becoming part of our team.

The Senior Director, Donor Strategy & Stewardship serves as a critical strategic partner to the Managing Director of Development Strategy & Operations and as connective tissue across Resource Development and Growth (RDG), programs, advocacy, and leadership. This role oversees three core bodies of work—Comprehensive Campaign execution, donor engagement and stewardship, and development writing—ensuring that fundraising teams are equipped with the strategies, tools, and assets needed to move prospects forward and deepen donor relationships, while ensuring that prospect insights are translated into clear, actionable fundraising strategies that drive pipeline growth. By translating organizational priorities around programmatic impact into compelling donor engagement, strengthening stewardship practices, and aligning teams around shared goals, the Senior Director helps drive sustained revenue growth, donor satisfaction, and long-term investment in the organization’s mission.

This role requires a strategic, big-picture thinker who is comfortable being bold—someone with experience developing and executing detailed, data-informed action plans that lead to significant results. The ideal candidate brings strong operational discipline alongside creativity and vision, and is well-versed in Raiser’s Edge, with a clear understanding of how data supports accountability, informs decision-making, and tells the full story of the donor journey. Just as importantly, this individual serves as a thoughtful and diplomatic partner across the organization, building trust and alignment with program, advocacy, and operational teams while navigating differing priorities to advance shared goals. The Senior Director leverages data not only to track performance, but to guide future donor interactions, strengthen relationships, and continuously improve fundraising outcomes.

This position is preferably based in Washington, D.C. but could be fully remote for the right candidate. The position offers a salary range of $148k-$155k. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location.
